We are seeking an experienced Interior Designer to join our team. The Interior Designer should expect to collaborate with the rest of the design team and  turn ideas into highly detailed, technical drawings used to construct the interiors of the building. This individual should be very comfortable in creating Interior Design construction documents for residential design. This position is not considered entry level and required at least 5 years professional experience.

Tomlinson Designs is a respected, comfortable, local firm dedicated to high end custom residential and interior design projects. We are seeking an experienced Interior Designer to join our team in office. This is a full-time hourly position for a minimum 30 day probationary period with transition to a full-time salaried position with benefits. The Interior Designer should expect to collaborate with the rest of the design team and turn ideas into highly detailed, technical drawings used to construct the interiors of the building. The interior designer is an integral part of the team and will be expected to be comfortable with client-facing situations on a regular basis. The interior designer should be familiar enough with building practices to understand site situations and communicate with contractors and sub contracts with detailed questions and answers. The ideal candidate is someone who is a good communicator, and a self-motivated individual who will thrive working in a highly collaborative yet self regulated environment. This individual should be very comfortable in creating Interior Design construction documents for residential design. Knowledge of general wood framed construction is required. This position is not considered entry level and requires at least 5 years professional residential experience. JOB DESCRIPTION Conduct initial consult meetings with clients to better understand their needs and scope of work. Design interior environments to meet client’s programming and needs. Research, select, and specify finishes, fixtures, appliances, materials, and equipment. Create mood boards to express design intent and update as the project progresses. Develop detailed drawings for construction and implementation of all selected items. Track and record all selected items and cost implications on each project. Review shop drawings, installation specifications, details, and work with contractors during construction to help interpret the drawings and design intent. Meet with product representatives to learn about new products, keep working relationships, and update/maintain the material library. Work with Designers on projects to coordinate finish details with architectural elements. Collaborate with BIM Manager/Draftsperson on production of presentation and construction drawings. Provide product/material R&D. Create interior details and supplemental drawings/cut-sheets. Create 3D renderings and perspectives. Collaborate and assist with architectural drawings when needed. Assist with general office duties as needed. Follow all building codes, zoning laws and all other local ordinances. Ensure adherence to all governmental ordinances. QUALIFICATIONS 5+ years industry experience Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to commit to deadlines Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Working knowledge of both Mac and PC Windows environments Excellent knowledge of current versions of Autodesk Revit software Working knowledge of current versions of Enscape software Diverse and excellent knowledge of interior products, makeup, and installation techniques.
