This relationship started with a simple phone call from Georgia to Colorado after my wife saw some of Sean Tomlinson’s work on Houzz. We wanted to design and build a house in Custer, SD. Later that year while on vacation Sean spent a day and a half with us walking our property, getting to know us, our living patterns, wants, needs, etc. What started as a design using simple blocks depicting flow of the house turned into a design so detailed the builders referred to their job as, “build by numbers.” Communications between us took place using Skype. Sean and his design team, specifically Erin, provided every detail necessary for a successful build even when you’re 1500 miles away from the project as we were. From light fixtures, plumbing options, windows, door latches, you name it and it was specified on the drawings. Thus, you end up having a home with a consistent style from room to room. My friends and family will tell you that I’m tight with a dollar, but hiring Sean and Erin to design our dream home was the best money I’ve ever spent. The builder told me, “we’ve built larger homes and more expensive homes, but this is the nicest home we’ve ever built.” That credit belongs to Tomlinson Designs.
